Students will work on professional shows and projects in order to get lots of experience in the areas that they are most interested in. This includes things like acting, dance, media skills, and Front of House work.

Arty Party performers start work on the new M21 !

Seven Arty Party performers spent a day working alongside performance artist Alan Mclean to devise and create work for M21, an exciting live art event, taking place in Much Wenlock in May. The work created will form part of a performance art piece by Alan Mclean entitled ‘Searching for Tony Mustoe’

Ricky, Graham, Nathan, Mervyn, Sean, Ray and Richard under the guidance of Alan Mclean explored all the ways a simple piece of paper can be folded, flown, worn, ripped and transformed to become part of a live art performance.

We then explored devising performance pieces in small groups making works to share involving our paper creations and inhabiting different spaces, including inside a tent, behind some curtains and along the entire length of the hall.

Performer Nathan Campbell commented  ‘ It was great trying out lots of creative ideas , so much came from just a simple piece of paper’ he continued ‘ It was good to be back with Arty Party and be part of a team, putting up a tent together, performing and sharing banter and laughter’ .

The group will be devising and rehearsing for a further three days in May before performing on Sunday 6th of May.

M21 is an exciting live art event present by DASH taking place on the 5th and 6th of May in Much Wenlock for full details visit  www.m21dash

Arty Party’s Electro Swing Night 11 November 2011

Thanks to everyone who came to the Arty Party’s Electro Swing night on Friday and made it such a great evening. As it was Armistice Day we went back in time to the 1940’s and enjoyed an evening dancing to swing and jazz music together with a wartime supper of spam sandwiches! Lots of people dressed up to make it a special occasion wearing military uniforms or dinner jackets. Some of our Arty Party female members came as Land Girls or nurses while others got very dressed up in tea dresses or evening gowns worn with very elegant accessories. See more pictures on Arty Party’s Facebook page.

Arty Party Sponsored Swim Sunday 21st August

Congratulations to everyone who took part in the Arty Party Sponsored Swim on Sunday 21st August. A team of 14 members and staff volunteered to take the challenge of swimming 2 miles in one hour at Madeley Court Swimming Pool. That’s 164 lengths of the pool. With Ricky Owens acting as official starter some of the strongest swimmers went first and the target hit within 25 minutes ! The team went on to swim 478 lengths in total by the end of the hour. Vicki Addison and Becky Smith both swam over one mile each so well done to them. Many thanks to the Lap Counters who made sure every length swam was recorded and a huge ‘thank you’ to the swimming team for their fantastic efforts. We will let everyone know how much money was raised shortly.
