Events management training for people with learning disabilities.
The Able Events project, funded by The Big Lottery, has been set up to train eight learning disabled people in events management. The trainees will become the Arty Party Able Events Team.
An Able Events project manager will lead the training, plan and supervise the Able Events team in the management of three high profile social nights for adults with learning disabilities.
The Able Events training includes workshops in communication and teamwork skills, front of house skills, accessible venue preparation, and disability awareness, giving the team greater knowledge and awareness of disability issues.
The Team will be supervised to organise and deliver three high profile social events for learning disabled people in Telford & Wrekin and Shropshire region. The events will act as important community celebrations for up to 100 learning disabled people. These social events will celebrate achievements by learning disabled people, creating community cohesion and a stronger sense of worth.
The events will act as vital work experience opportunities for the Able Events Team, and trainees will be supported to find employment within this sector.
